Full Stack Developer (Intern)
Improving website performance score, rebuilding key UI portals, and working with Firebase databases.
1. Overview & Context
Dabotics India is an educational platform offering courses to students, with a primary focus on STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
During my time as a Full-Stack Developer Intern, I was tasked with leading the complete overhaul of the company's core platform. I built and transitioned the website from a basic, legacy architecture running on static HTML and PHP scripts to a modern, responsive web application built with React and Firebase services.
This role was my very first professional experience shipping live, production-ready features. Taking full ownership of the frontend revamp taught me how to move beyond just making code work to writing clean, optimized, and performant web applications that load quickly for students.
2. Frontend Revamp & Lighthouse Optimization
Led a comprehensive frontend rebuild of the company's main website, targeting slow page loads and rendering delays.
Achieved this speed improvement by implementing render path optimizations, refactoring heavy image assets, deferred loading strategies for scripts, and cleaning up legacy CSS dependencies. This revamped code structure significantly cut Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) values.
3. UI Workflows & Component Rebuilds
Rebuilt core UI elements and layout workflows to optimize responsiveness, accessibility, and clean interface designs.
Collaborated closely with designers using React and Material UI (MUI) to establish reusable styles and structured components. The refactored components improved frontend maintainability and created a smoother user experience across mobile and desktop viewports.
4. Backend Collaboration with Firebase
Connected front-end pages to backend cloud databases using Firebase services.
Shipped database queries, user profile handling, and real-time form data syncs during the 3-month internship, ensuring features were solid and fully production-ready.
5. Key Takeaways
"This was my first real experience shipping something live, and it taught me the difference between just making it work and making it fast, clean, and production-ready."
